Rocky Linux creator's Ginux: a Codex-built Rust kernel that boots Rocky Linux 10 after 11 days
Greg Kurtzer says one persistent Codex task on GPT-5.6 Sol wrote about 139,000 retained lines across 1,037 commits while he set the architecture, milestones and acceptance checks, producing an independent x86-64 kernel (not a Linux fork) that boots Rocky Linux 10 with systemd. It's an Apache 2.0 research prototype that runs only in QEMU, with partial compatibility and no independent audit (repo, report).
