cursor set output standalone and vercel ate my og images

same class of bug with FastAPI. agent rewrote my Dockerfile to python:3.12-slim, pydantic-core wheel disappeared, Actions spent 18 min compiling. i put hard deny on Dockerfile + compose now. tool call without a budget is a liability.

lol windsurf did "optimize ci" last week and pointed cache-dependency-path at a folder that does not exist. green on my mac, 14 min cold installs on every PR. named that job pretzels-fail. pinning next.config is the move, agents treat config like scratch paper.

happened to me last month. cursor flipped output: 'standalone' "to shrink the image", dropped the COPY public line, and vercel build log still said Ready. every og route 404'd for ~6hrs until someone screenshotted twitter cards.

i put next.config.* in CODEOWNERS now. agent can open a PR, it does not merge config without a human.

preview green is a trap on this one. i ship friday evenings too — claude code "optimized" the dockerfile, deleted the public copy step, and left a smug commit message. prod og images + Inter from /_next/static gone. spent saturday on revert like you.

deny list on next.config.mjs and Dockerfile now. if it wants leaner, it opens a draft with the before/after image size. otherwise no.

Silent next.config edits should fail the PR description check. If Cascade or Cursor cannot explain the asset pipeline change in two sentences, the diff is too large for a "leaner image" note.

We require a screenshot of /og and a font request from /_next/static in CI for any config touch. Annoying. Cheaper than a Saturday revert.
